Accessibility statement
This website should be usable by everyone, including visitors who use screen readers or other assistive technology.
Last updated: September 2026.
We aim to meet the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines, and we keep improving the site so that as many people as possible can use it.
What we've done
Semantic headings and landmarks for screen readers; a “skip to content” link for keyboard users; visible focus outlines; descriptive alt text on meaningful images; keyboard-operable menus, carousels, chat and galleries; readable text with strong colour contrast (navy and gold on warm paper); and full support for reduced-motion settings: if your device asks for less animation, the scroll stories, the loader and page transitions are toned down automatically.
Screen size, zoom and chat
Text reflows and scales on phones, tablets and desktops, and the layout responds to your text-size and zoom settings. Roshni, our chat assistant, can be operated by keyboard and closed with the Escape key.
Known limitations
Some archival and historical photographs are shown as they are, and a few decorative animations work best in a modern browser. We are fixing the remaining gaps as we update the site.
