This policy covers orientalacademy.co.in, the website of Oriental Academy Senior Secondary School, Afghan Street, Kacchi Chawni, Jammu. By using the site or our forms, you agree to this policy.
What we collect
We collect only what you choose to give us:
Enquiry & contact forms. When you submit an admissions enquiry, a contact message, or an alumni story, we receive the details you enter (such as parent/student name, phone, email, class of interest, your message, and any photo you choose to attach).
Roshni, our chat assistant. The questions you type are sent to our server to generate a reply. If you ask for a callback, we collect the name, phone and class you provide. Roshni is an AI assistant; the details you share are used only to help with your enquiry.
Basic analytics. We use privacy-friendly analytics to understand which pages are visited, in aggregate. We do not build advertising profiles of you.
Publishing photographs, names & achievements
With appropriate consent, the school may publish student photographs, names, achievements, examination results, alumni stories and archive contributions, for school communication, recognition, historical preservation and public information (for example on this website, in the photo archive, in result announcements, and on the school's social channels).
Where you share a photograph or story with us, through the alumni/share-story form or the Moments archive, the consent checkbox on that form is your permission to feature it; you can ask us to remove anything at any time by writing to orientalacademy1960@gmail.com. For a current student, a parent or guardian may make that request on the child's behalf.
Light a Diya
Our Light a Diya page keeps what you write there private:
Your wish stays on your device. Any name or message you type is saved only in your own browser so you can return to it. It is never sent to our server, never shown to anyone else, and there is no public wall of wishes.
The keepsake card is made on your device. When you save or share your card, the image is created in your browser and handed to your own downloads or your device's share sheet. We do not receive or store it.
We keep only an anonymous count. Leaving a light adds one to a single shared count, so we can show how many lights have been lit. The count holds no name, message or anything else that could identify you.
How we use it
We use it to respond to your enquiry, guide you through admissions, stay in touch with alumni, and improve the website. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Where it is stored & who processes it
Submissions are saved in the school’s Google account (Google Sheets and Google Drive), or in our database as a backup, and emailed to the school office so we can act on them. A few outside service providers help run the site: Google (form storage and email), our hosting and analytics provider (Vercel), our backup database provider (MongoDB) and the AI provider that powers Roshni's replies (Groq). They process this data only to provide their service.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and messages for as long as needed to respond and for our admissions records, then remove them when no longer required.
Your choices
You may ask us to see, correct, or delete the information you have shared by writing to us (contact details below). You can browse the site without submitting any personal details.
Children
This site is intended for parents, guardians and adult alumni. Information about a child should be submitted by a parent or guardian.
